Mardi created Release in 2018 with a goal tie her two (very unrelated) passions together - massage and wildlife. As a sports woman Mardi knows the demands training has on the body, and with her Diploma of Remedial Massage she knows exactly how to help your body. An athlete (or one of us who stresses and works too hard at the office) has muscles that from the outside can look tough like a rhino's skin, but on the inside they are very vulnerable if not managed correctly. Massage is an important part of maintaining a healthy body that moves well and performs the way we want it to. It provides the following benefits: Improve circulation, reduce recovery time between training, relaxation, sleep improvements, reduction in injury risk and many more!

As an animal lover and having bachelor degree in wildlife science, she also knows how vulnerable many wildlife species are and how important funding and awareness is for the survival of species like the rhino.



Britt is our head therapist at Release. She is a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist who is passionate and interested in human anatomy and the benefits that massage offers. She has been practicing massage for almost 2 years now after finishing her diploma at the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2017. She has worked with numerous elite athletes and sporting teams specialising in trigger point, deep tissue therapy, muscle energy technique (MET) and Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF). As an emerging athlete herself, She understands the pressure the body is put under during everyday life, training and game or competition day which is why she is enthusiastic about helping clients improve mobility, feel a decrease in muscle soreness and tension whilst providing a holistic approach to each client and their specific needs.

When Mardi's not playing footy, training, or working she's saving animals. With a degree in Wildlife Science she has spent some time in Africa working with rhino's; anti-poaching, de-horning, and tracking them. Working so close to the Rhino it was saddening to see such a strong looking animal become obliterated by poaches and face extinction.   




*Vision Africa Wildlife is where Mardi volunteered, so she know's first hand the fantastic work this agency does in saving endangered species like the rhino. 


What to expect before, during and after your massage

Whether it’s your first massage or you’re a ‘regular releaser’ here’s a quick run through of what to expect before, during and after your appointment so you can get the most out of your massage



Congratulations! The hardest part is done - you’ve made time in your hectic schedule to book an appointment. If you’ve booked online you will receive a booking confirmation via email. If not, shoot me a text on 0428626776 to make sure you’re in the system.

Hydrate! A deep massage will release lactic acid and other ‘toxins’ from your muscles. Adequate hydration allows the body to remove these effectively.

Go to the bathroom - There’s nothing worse than needing to pee halfway through a massage

Northern beaches traffic can be a nightmare so please allow time for parking


During Treatment

Please arrive 5 minutes early so we can have a chat about your treatment. You will be asked about any injuries you have/had, your training, occupation and what you want out of the massage. No I’m not just nosy, this is so your treatment can be personalised and specific to meet your needs.

Your therapist will instruct you to remove necessary clothing and which way to lay on the table.

Sweet almond oil is our massage oil of choice - it’s hydrating and washes out of clothes. Please advise if you have any allergies or would prefer something else.

Communication is key! A remedial massage can sometimes hurt but it is not meant to be excruciating. Please let your therapist know if the pain is too much, don’t suffer in silence!


After treatment

You. Are. Welcome.

Take your time to get off the table - dizziness is common after lying down for an hour. Your therapist will advise you on your treatment plan including when you need to come in again and any exercises/stretches you need to be doing at home.

Drink plenty of water to help your kidneys process the toxins released from your muscles

Take the day off! A massage is most beneficial on a rest day so swap the gym for uber eats and netflix.

The next day:

Aching muscles? Heavy legs? Bruises? Believe it or not, this is actually a good thing! This means a change is taking place and you’re on track to better muscles. After 2-3 days you should feel fantastic.

Group recovery involves athletes rotating through massage, rolling and stretching in pre-determined time blocks. Qualified massage therapists will tailor treatments to the athlete’s needs in a fun environment.  It is the perfect time for downtime but can also be used as an opportunity for a whiteboard session
